One of the early uses of photography was to replace long sitting hours for models, especially children. In some cases artists took their own photographs but in most they worked with a professional photographer. Some are well known and their work, such as still exists, has its own value on the art market. Below are works by Jean Louis Marie Eugène Durieu who worked with one of the great French masters, Eugène Delacroix; a few by Gaudenzio Marconi who worked with Auguste Rodin; and one by celebrated English painter Sir Frank Brangwyn (note how Brangwyn has placed a grid over the photo to help with composition).
