I stumbled across this whilst researching the Jungle Book and the Wild Child in French culture. Pyrénée is a French graphic novel. Whilst it is available in several European languages it has not be translated to English. The most likely reason is that it features a naked post-pubertal wild girl. Anyway, thought it was of interest.

    “Post-pubertal” is debatable… I’ve always thought she looked between 10 and 12.

It just so happens, she also happens to look a bit like Princess Merida in Disney-Pixar’s upcoming (at the time of writing) “Brave”, the most obvious similarity being that huge mop of red hair. Whether that will be an issue for the creators of Pyrenee remains to be seen.

I have no doubt that Pyrenee is well-known amongst other graphic artists and animators, so there may well have been some creative ‘borrowing’.

It does indeed appear the character has reached puberty, marked by the onset of thelarche (breast development). This is evident in several frames.
